Moroccan Msemen with Honey and Almonds

🟡 Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • Oil for frying vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1
Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Add water gradually while stirring until a soft dough forms.
  2. 2
Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth. Divide into 4 equal balls and cover with a damp cloth for 10 minutes.
  3. 3
Oil a work surface generously. Take one dough ball and stretch it very thin using your hands, creating a large translucent sheet.
  4. 4
Brush the stretched dough with melted butter. Sprinkle chopped almonds and a pinch of cinnamon over the surface.
  5. 5
Fold the dough into thirds lengthwise, then roll it into a flat rectangle or square shape.
  6. 6
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the msemen for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7
Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Drizzle warm honey over the msemen immediately while still hot.
