Msemen with Honey and Almonds

🟡 Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1
Mix flour and salt in a bowl, then gradually add warm water while kneading until you form a soft, elastic dough. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth.
  2. 2
Divide dough into 4 equal balls and brush with oil. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  3. 3
On an oiled surface, stretch each dough ball into a large thin square, then fold it into thirds accordion-style, creating a rectangular shape.
  4. 4
Brush folded dough generously with melted butter on all sides.
  5. 5
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and fry each msemen until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. 6
Transfer to a serving plate and drizzle generously with warm honey.
  7. 7
Sprinkle toasted almonds, cinnamon, and sesame seeds on top while still warm.
  8. 8
Serve immediately with hot mint tea.
