Moroccan Msemen with Honey and Almonds

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, chopped
  • Pinch sea salt for topping

Instructions

    Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water and 2 tablespoons oil, kneading until a soft dough forms. Let rest for 15 minutes.

    Divide dough into 4 equal portions and shape into balls. On an oiled surface, stretch each ball into a thin square.

    Brush each square with melted butter and sprinkle with dried parsley and a pinch of cinnamon.

    Fold the square in half, then in half again to create a smaller square. Heat remaining oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    Fry each msemen for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

    Transfer to a serving plate and drizzle generously with warm honey. Sprinkle toasted almonds and cinnamon on top.
