Pain Perdu with Autumn Fruits

🟡 Medium

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of brioche or day-old bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 pear, sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • pinch salt
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. 2
Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apple and pear slices, sprinkle with brown sugar, and cook for 5-7 minutes until caramelized. Transfer to a plate.
  3. 3
Add remaining butter to the skillet. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture for 2 seconds per side, ensuring it absorbs the liquid without becoming soggy.

Cook the dipped bread slices for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. 5
Plate the Pain Perdu and top with caramelized fruits. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
