Bánh Cuốn – Vietnamese Steamed Rice Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200g ground pork
  • 100g mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Fresh herbs cilantro, mint, dill
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce dipping sauce

Instructions

    Mix rice flour, water, and salt to create a thin, smooth batter and let rest 10 minutes.

    Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic, then add ground pork and mushrooms, cooking until done. Season with fish sauce and set aside to cool.

    Heat a non-stick pan and lightly oil it. Pour a thin layer of batter, tilting to spread evenly, and steam for about 1-2 minutes until translucent.

    Place a spoonful of pork filling in the center, then gently roll the rice pancake tightly.

    Transfer rolls to a serving plate and serve with fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, and fish sauce dipping sauce on the side.
