Ingredients
- 200 grams phyllo dough sheets
- 150 grams walnuts, finely chopped
- 100 grams butter, melted
- 75 grams honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground clove
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 orange, zest only
- 1 pinch of sea salt
Instructions
-
1Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toast the chopped walnuts in a dry pan for 3-4 minutes until fragrant, then mix with cinnamon, clove, sugar, orange zest, and salt.
-
2Brush a baking sheet with melted butter. Layer 4-5 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet generously with butter.
-
3Sprinkle half of the walnut mixture evenly over the phyllo. Layer 4-5 more phyllo sheets with butter between each sheet.
-
4Add remaining walnut mixture, then top with final 4-5 phyllo sheets, buttering each layer.
-
5Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into diagonal strips or diamond shapes without cutting all the way through.
-
6Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
-
7While pastry bakes, gently warm the honey in a small saucepan (do not boil). Once pastry is done, immediately drizzle warm honey over it.
-
8Let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm with Greek yogurt on the side if desired.
