Manakish with Za’atar

Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 250ml warm water
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 5g salt
  • 15ml olive oil
  • 4 tbsp za'atar spice blend
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil for topping
  • 1 fresh lemon

Instructions

    Mix flour, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.

    Add warm water and olive oil, knead until smooth dough forms (about 8 minutes).

    Let dough rest for 10 minutes covered with a damp cloth.

    Divide dough into 4 equal portions and shape into balls.

    Roll each ball into a thin oval about 5mm thick.

    Mix za'atar with extra virgin olive oil to form a paste.

    Spread za'atar mixture evenly over each manakish.

    Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and cook each manakish for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

    Serve hot with fresh lemon wedges and warm tea.
