Moroccan Msemen with Honey and Almonds

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, sliced

Instructions

    Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add water while mixing until a soft dough forms.

    Knead dough for 5 minutes until smooth. Divide into 4 equal balls.

    Oil a work surface and your hands. Stretch each dough ball very thin, almost transparent.

    Fold the stretched dough into a square, then fold again into a smaller square.

    Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each msemen for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

    Transfer to a serving plate. Drizzle with melted butter and honey, then sprinkle toasted almonds on top.

    Serve immediately while warm with hot mint tea.
