Moroccan Msemen with Honey and Almonds

Moroccan Msemen with Honey and Almonds

🟡 Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3/4 cup toasted almonds, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. 1
Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water and 2 tablespoons of oil, kneading until a soft dough forms.
  2. 2
Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rest for 30 minutes covered with a damp cloth.
  3. 3
Divide dough into 4 equal balls. Oil your work surface generously and stretch each ball into a very thin, transparent square.
  4. 4
Fold the thin dough square into thirds lengthwise, then fold into thirds widthwise to create a small square packet.
  5. 5
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Pan-fry each msemen until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. 6
Place cooked msemen on a serving plate. Drizzle with warm honey, sprinkle with toasted almonds and cinnamon.
  7. 7
Serve immediately while still warm and crispy.
