Msemen with Honey and Almonds

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup orange blossom honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter for cooking

Instructions

    Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water and knead into a smooth, soft dough. Let rest for 10 minutes.

    Divide dough into 4 equal portions and shape into balls. Oil your hands and gently stretch each ball into a thin, translucent sheet on an oiled surface.

    Fold the dough sheet in half, then in half again, creating a square. Brush lightly with oil between folds.

    Heat butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pan-fry each folded msemen for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

    Transfer to a serving plate and drizzle with orange blossom honey. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and cinnamon.

    Serve warm, tearing pieces as you eat.
