Thai Green Papaya Salad (Som Tam)

Ingredients

  • 1 medium green papaya, shredded
  • 1 cup long beans, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Thai bird's eye chilies
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon palm sugar
  • ¼ cup roasted peanuts, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons dried shrimp, optional

Instructions

    In a large mortar, gently pound garlic and chilies together until fragrant.

    Add long beans and tomatoes, lightly bruise to release flavors.

    Add shredded papaya and toss gently to combine.

    Add lime juice, fish sauce, and palm sugar; mix well.

    Transfer to a serving plate and top with crushed peanuts and dried shrimp.
